Statement from the NSHA Board of Directors 12-8-2009

12/9/2009

At the 2009 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity, the first trainer meeting was held. There was discussion directed at bridging the gap between the NRCHA and the NSHA. In 2008 the NRCHA put into effect not to allow dual approval between NRCHA and any entity that is not an affiliate of the NRCHA. The NSHA does not meet the criteria to be an affiliate. The executive committee of the NRCHA felt that the NSHA year end program could have a negative impact on the NRCHA. In order to alleviate the fear for the executive committee of the NRCHA, the NSHA directors have decided after 2 show seasons, over 2000 works, and sponsoring 12 saddles and 160 buckles, to suspend their year end program.

The second issue, any individual that is a director or owner of an entity that uses in its name cow horse, stock horse, or working cow horse is ineligible to run for a seat on the NRCHA Board of Directors. The NSHA Board of Directors has, collectively, over 45 years of NRCHA board experience including officer positions. The NSHA board members and owners will concede not to donate their time or seek position on the NRCHA Board.
